On September 25th, RCK hosted "The Role of Tech in the Government’s Economic Strategy" Panel at Level 39 in Canary Wharf. This event not only provided attendees with a stunning bird’s-eye view of London but also offered key insights into how technology may be implemented into governmental strategy in the near future.
The discussion was presented by an esteemed panel of technology experts who provided exclusive knowledge and industry insights. The panel consisted of Lord Phillip Hammond, Simon Kanter (Consultant at Egon Zehnder), Rob Genieser (Managing partner at ETF Partners), Katie Ramsey (Head of FinTech at the Department for Business and Trade for His Majesty's Government), and Amanda Zuydervelt (a specialist in technology and business development). The panellists offered differing perspectives from various sectors, sparking interesting conversations and an interactive experience for all attendees.
The event provided a unique opportunity for attendees to network in a social setting with complimentary canapés and refreshments, whilst gaining key insights into how technology may influence the government budget in the future.
The 2025 Budget was highly anticipated, fuelled by extensive speculation in the lead-up to it. This speculation ended slightly prematurely with the unforeseen leak of the OBR forecast, which preceded Reeves' delivery.
In speaking with Lord Philip Hammond, Former Chancellor of the Exchequer, we gained a sense of how he views the Budget process, spanning from two weeks beforehand, through to the days after. With ongoing speculation about the measures Rachel Reeves may introduce, his reflections helped shape a view of the pressures she is facing, where they are coming from, and the actions she may take as the Budget approaches.
